A message from our co-founder

Hi everyone, Nate here.

Founding this little company in 2021 with my partner and wife was an astounding privilege and a joy that few may ever experience. When we moved from New York City to the little town of Occidental in Sonoma County we didn't know anyone and it was peak Covid. It was a time of masks up, doors shut, and elbow bumps when you’re feeling friendly. Through our little sauce operation at the farmers markets we introduced ourselves and built our home. Big Spoon Sauce Co. became a creative outlet, a community inlet, and a beloved identity. People started referring to us as Chili and Crisp. These are some of the best moments of my life.

But as of now, I am officially resigning from the Big Spoon Sauce Co. family. It may come as no surprise that this has been a tumultuous year for us. Lani and I are on our own separate journeys now, but I sincerely wish her all the success in the world as she carries the business forward. I know she has the brilliance and fortitude to grow this little company well beyond its humble origins as a husband-and-wife operation moonlighting in a shared kitchen deep in the redwoods. Please continue giving her the support that has meant so much to both of us over the years.

With infinite gratitude I raise my spoon to you all,

Nathan Bender
