Production & Operations Associate

Hei Ma  •  Part-Time  •  Windsor, CA (On-site)  •  $18-25/hr DOE

The role

We’re looking for a Production & Operations Associate to work with our Production Manager and our founder on production days and to help keep orders moving out the door. This is a ground-floor role at a growing small food brand — if you want to understand how a real food business works from the inside, this is a rare opportunity to see all of it.

The role is primarily in production — physical kitchen work — with some light admin (order fulfillment). Hours and responsibilities will grow as the business grows. Availability on Mondays is a must.

There will also be opportunities to work additional hours as a sales associate at events. More information below.

What you’ll do

In the kitchen

• Work hands-on in a commercial kitchen on production days
• Follow our production process carefully — prep, cook, fill, label, clean, repeat
• Help keep the kitchen and warehouse organized, stocked, and food-safe
• Assist with inventory tracking
• Assist with research and development for seasonal recipes and new products
  

Order fulfillment

• Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment
• Communicate with customers about their orders when needed
  

Sales + Events (Optional)

• Help out and/or run a booth at farmers markets, pop-ups, and other events if interested
• Be a friendly, knowledgeable face for Hei Ma in the community

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of prep kitchen experience, or recent completion of a culinary program
• Reliable transportation to Windsor, CA — production days can start early and end late
  
• Monday availability
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly and stand for up to 8 hours
• Access to a laptop and solid communication skills via email

Preferred qualifications

• Conversational Spanish — our kitchen runs bilingually and it makes a difference day to day
• People-person energy, especially for events and customer-facing moments
• Curiosity about how a small food business operates
• Interest in growing with the business over time
